ACUR

ACUR is the group who manages the gardens of the Townhall complex.

Townhall is the organisational centre of Auroville, and it is a very public place, visited regularly by many Aurovilians. Many services vital to the town are found here.
With the gardeners team we started to approach the integration of food production within the already existing landscape. ACUR provided us a good amount of materials to install drip-irrigation and, following our close-loop approach, the whole production will be nurtured by recycled waters.
The plan is to develop different systems of horticulture and orchards, to be put around this very visible area in order to attract attention and feedback from the wider community. This means that Townhall will be the last element to be implemented in our project, as only those systems that prove efficient, simple and aesthetically pleasing will be introduced there.
Much of the outreach of the project will automatically be done once the people who office complex will be engaged in the gardens, as this would mean that the other city centre gardens are running well.
